The AccaDoo boys know it’s never too early to be thinking about Christmas, and we’ve got an absolute cracker of a bet for Kempton’s Boxing Day big race feature, the King George VI Chase.

With a recent roll call including Sprinter Sacre, Simonsig, Altior, My Tent or Yours and Buveur Dair, Nicky Henderson is rightly considered the king of handling two-mile speedsters, over both hurdles and fences. But in Might Bite we reckon the Seven Barrows maestro has unearthed a horse that can showcase his talent at producing staying chasers too.

Henderson’s eight-year-old showed his class and liking for Kempton while making all in the Feltham Novices’ Chase on the King George card last December, with only a last fence fall stopping him from registering what would have been a win of upwards of 20 lengths.

Might Bite showed that performance was no flash in the pan when scoring in the RSA Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, despite veering wildly across the track on the run in. That finish has left the AccaDoo boys with a bit of doubt as to whether the Gold Cup will be within Might Bite’s scope, but we have no such doubt over the King George VI Chase.

We rate Might Bite’s performance at the track last season to be at least the equivalent to the one that Thistlecrack put in when winning the 2016 King George VI Chase and, given injury concerns over the reigning champ, we’re happy to take the 5/1 on Henderson’s charge.
