Wednesday, March 14: Cheltenham Festival Daily Trixie: #1 Samcro (Cheltenham, 1.30pm)

We start our Wednesday, March 14: Cheltenham Festival Daily Trixie with Gordon Elliott’s Samcro.

The six-year-old son of Germany is the Irish banker of the week.

Successful in all three of his bumpers last season, he has looked the real deal over hurdles.

Samcro won his debut at Punchestown by 15 lengths and then romped home again at Navan next time out.

His latest effort was another comfortable win, this time in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown.

He has clocked some decent figures in those wins and hasn’t broken sweat yet.

This looks a hot race, but Elliott cannot hide his admiration for Samcro.

We fancy this banker will deliver.

Wednesday, March 14: Cheltenham Festival Daily Trixie: #2 Black Corton (Cheltenham, 2.10pm)

The second leg of our Wednesday, March 14: Cheltenham Festival Daily Trixie is Paul Nicholls’ Black Corton.

The RSA Novice Chase is a tough race to win, but Nicholls knows what it takes having landed it twice before.

His seven-year-old Black Corton is just the type to excel in this race having shown his toughness.

He has run 10 times this season having started off way back in the summer.

That experience will count for plenty, as will the fact he has run here ate Cheltenham twice (and won both times).

He goes well on these conditions and has a Grade 1 win on his dance card too.

Bryony Frost rides and she has been on board for Black Corton’s last nine runs, eight of which were wins.

Wednesday, March 14: Cheltenham Festival Daily Trixie: #3 Altior (Cheltenham, 3.30pm)

The final leg of our Wednesday, March 14: Cheltenham Festival Daily Trixie is Nicky Henderson’s Altior.

The eight-year-old son of High Chaparral was imperious last season.

After winning the 2016 Supreme Novice Hurdle, Altior was unbeaten in his novice chase campaign.

That culminated in victory in the Arkle Novice Chase at last season’s Cheltenham Festival.

Big things were expected this season, but injury intervened.

However, Altior made his comeback at Newbury last month and looked as good as ever.

He breezed past a useful yardstick in Politilogue and will take all the beating here.
