Thursday, October 12: Exeter & Chelmsford Daily Trixie: #1 Coastal Tiep (Exeter, 4.20pm)

Paul Nicholls has started the new jumps season well and we fancy his Coastal Tiep to land leg one of our Thursday, October 12: Exeter & Chelmsford Daily Trixie.

A decent if unspectacular hurdler, this five-year-old was always going to be better over fences.

A former point-to-point winner, this small field test with only one notable rival looks ideal. Especially since that rival has big fitness questions to answer.

With Sam Twiston-Davies booked for the ride, we fancy this one to make a winning start to life over fences.

Thursday, October 12: Exeter & Chelmsford Daily Trixie: #2 Pretty Baby (Chelmsford, 6.15pm)

It’s to the all-weather for the next two legs of our Thursday, October 12: Exeter & Chelmsford Daily Trixie.

Trainer William Haggas and jockey Ryan Moore team up with Pretty Baby in this six-furlong contest.

A two-year-old daughter of Orpen, Pretty Baby has only run once but her form looks strong.

Second in an extended five-furlong contest at York last month, the front two were well clear that day and the winner has come out and been placed in a Group 2 race since.

Haggas is operating at a 30 per cent strike rate at present, and we fancy this one will improve those form figures even more by winning what looks a weak contest.

Thursday, October 12: Exeter & Chelmsford Daily Trixie: #3 Boynton (Chelmsford, 7.15pm)

Charlie Appleby’s Boynton is the last pick of our Thursday, October 12: Exeter & Chelmsford Daily Trixie.

A winner of a Group 2 race as a two-year-old, Boynton has been off the track since last summer.

While that may indicate some injury problems, the fact Appleby is running him here shows Boynton must be back to full fitness.

With no penalty for that win at Newmarket last summer, the weights of this contest look favourable. And with his market rivals here having questions to answer, we reckon this could be an ideal opportunity for Boynton to come back with a bang.
