Thursday, August 9 Brighton Daily Double #1 Arden Warrior (Brighton, 3.00pm)

The first of our daily double runs in a three horse race. Realistically, whilst three go to post it looks like there are two in with a shout.

We back Archie Watson’s Arden Warrior who carries 11lbs more than the other at the head of the market, Rosamour. Having looked back through Arden Warriors form you can see why he is carrying the bigger weight.

He has had four career runs to date and finished second in two of them at Epsom and Beverley. Both had some decent horses in that have come out and run in good races since. His last second at Beverley has seen the winner win two more races subsequently.

We are excusing a under par run on the all-weather at Chelmsford as that doesn’t suit all horses.

We are hoping a return to turf will see our boy finally get his head on front.

Thursday, August 9 Brighton Daily Double #2 Dr Richard Kimble (Brighton, 3.30pm)

Dr Richard Kimble must be one of the more stranger named horses in training but we fancy him to run a big race.

Mark Johnston is one of the bigger yards in the UK and he is having winners at the moment.

Dr Richard Kimble has had a decent season so far having five placed finishes from eleven starts. He had a purple patch from May to June where all his prize money was won. During this period he recorded two victories, one at Doncaster and then at Goodwood. That one at Goodwood was crucially off 1lb higher than he carries in this.

He has been disappointing since that win but his mark reflected that good run of form.

We fancy he is back on a winning mark and we are expecting Franny Norton to be steering this one to victory.
