Cheltenham Festival Novice Chase Acca: 1. Duc Des Genievres

The first leg of our Cheltenham Festival Novice Chase Acca runs on Day 1 in the Arkle Novice Chase.

Duc Des Genievres is a six-year-old trained by Willie Mullins, the most successful trainer in Cheltenham Festival history.

This race has no shortage of pace in it this season, and we think it may pay to side with one that has been proven over further than 2 miles.

Duc Des Genievres looked very good when winning over 2.5 miles at Gowran last time out.

That run convinced us that this is the one to be on.

Cheltenham Festival Novice Chase Acca: 2. Topofthegame

We fancy Paul Nicholls has a useful set of novices on his hands and this one is developing nicely.

Topofthegame has some useful festival form, having placed second in last year’s Coral Cup.

A defeat at the hands of Defi Du Seuil over an inadequate trip on his first chase start was no disgrace.

However, he looked a different proposition when stepped up to 3 miles at Kempton on Boxing Day.

A second that day to the useful La Bague Au Roi is top form and we think a return to this track will bring even more improvement.

Cheltenham Festival Novice Chase Acca: 3. Lostintranslation

The final leg of our runs in the JLT Novice Chase on Day 3 of the Festival.

Lostintranslation is a seven-year-old trained by Colin Tizzard.

This one was a decent novice hurdler and was less than a length away from landing a Grade 1 at the Aintree Festival last season.

Tizzard put him over fences this campaign and the results have been very good.

He put in two decent efforts before breaking his duck here at Cheltenham in January.

Lostintranslation was beaten last time out, at Sandown, but we think he is a better horse here at Prestbury Park.

The track plays to his strengths and he is going to be very hard to catch once he’s established a lead.
