The AccaDoo racing tipsters landed this antepost bet last season when Buveur D’Air landed his second Champion Hurdle.

However, we weren’t that impressed with his performance and think this is the year to take him on.

It may seem madness going against a horse that has won the last two Champion Hurdles.

Champion Hurdle tip 2019: Summerville Boy

And it may also seem madness to go against a horse that is undefeated in his last ten runs going back to April 2016.

However, there is reason to do so.

It is our opinion that the two-mile hurdle division has been pretty weak for the last couple of seasons.

Buveur D’Air never had to face Annie Power or Faugheen (the winners of the Champion Hurdle in 2015 and 2016 respectively) because of injuries to those two stars.

That left the division bereft of real star quality and nothing else has emerged to replace them.

However, that could change this season.

The 2017/18 batch of novice hurdlers look strong.

Samcro looks a beast, though we suspect he may go chasing, and Summerville Boy looks lightning fast.

Champion Hurdle tip 2019: Summerville Boy

The winner of last year’s Supreme Novice Hurdle, Summerville Boy is a six-year-old trained by Tom George.

He has a liking for Cheltenham and was second and third at Prestbury Park prior to his win last March.

And that win left us excited for this season.

A fast paced race is what he loves, and he showed a great turn of foot and battling qualities to overcome a toughnut rival.

That race looked good on the clock and we fancy he will give the reigning champ a real scare.
