This Tuesday, July 10: France v Belgium Bet Builder has three selections that look set to steam in at a good price. This is going to be a close one!

Two of Europe’s heavyweights meet in Saint Petersburg as France and Belgium go head to head for a place in the World Cup final. The bookies are making the French favourites for this one but by no means will it be a walk in the park. As you’d expect from a World Cup Semi Final. The victors of Tuesday’s semi-final between Red Devils and Les Bleus will be considered favourites to win the biggest prize in football. The winners of the other semi between England and Croatia will certainly be underdogs.

There’s plenty of history between these two. France and Belgium have met 73 times. France have won 24 of those meetings but Belgium have recorded 30 victories, with 19 draws between them. Their most recent meeting was in 2015 when a friendly match saw Belgium come away 4-3 winners, having been 3-0 up.

In terms of form, they are both on fire as you’d expect. Belgium are unbeaten in over twenty games and France haven’t lost in nine.

So why France to qualify? Despite having the better form, and head-to-heads, we are not backing Belgium to qualify here. France are organised, experienced and have quality all over the pitch. They have turned over Uruguay and Argentina, and have been resolute in defence. Something Belgium may be lacking. They nearly slipped up against Japan and even conceded two against Tunisia. We think their shape and defensive frailties might be picked apart by France.

It’ll be a close game for sure with two excellent sides going head-to-head but we think France will qualify, either in 90 mins or by the dreaded shootout.

Griezmann to score

If France are to qualify, they’re going to need some goals. And if you’re going to pick a goal-scorer, always go for the penalty taker, especially in this tournament. Griezmann has three goals in the tournament so far and he is capable of scoring from anywhere. He can make chances out of nothing and is likely to take free-kicks and penalties, which puts him top of out list for scoring.

Over 6 corners

This part of the bet actually isn’t as nailed on as you might think. French games have seen just over 6 corners a game in this World Cup, which is very low for an attacking side like them. Belgium games on the other hand, average over 11 corners per game. We think over 6 is a safe bet though with both sides playing an attacking brand of football.
