Tottenham v Liverpool (12:30pm)
- Liverpool to win the match 3-1
- Sadio Mane to score anytime
This Saturday, September 15: Tottenham v Liverpool Preview picks out the key stats to build a big priced bet builder on bet365.
This early kick-off clash between two of the title contenders is an intriguing affair. There has been a lot of talk about the referee allocation for this game. Michael Oliver has taken charge of games involving Liverpool more than any other club with 33 games. Liverpool have won just 14 of those. On the other hand, Tottenham have had Oliver 29 times and won 18. Amazingly, they are on an eight-game winning streak in matches in which Oliver has been the man in the middle. But we all know this is nonsense and makes no impact on the result.
What should we be looking at when building a bet? Form is always a good start. Liverpool have won eight in a row, including the pre-season International Champions Cup. They are on fire. They top the league standings with a superior goal difference to Chelsea and Watford. Spurs are coming off a loss at Watford, which raised serious question marks over their defensive capabilities.
Whilst Liverpool are scoring freely, something that has gone under the radar is their defensive record. Since having Virgil van Dijk at the back, they have only conceded ten goals in seventeen Premier League games. And only one goal has been conceded this season.
So the defence is shaping up for Liverpool and the goals are flowing. Sadio Mane is leading the goal-scoring charts with Fulham’s Mitrovic, both netting four in four games. Mo Salah has been Spur’s chief tormentor in recent times, banging three in against them last season but we fancy Mane to continue his goal scoring form. He is no stranger to scoring goals against Spurs, firing in two against them at Anfield in the 2016/17 season.
Goals, cards and Corners
If you are the type of person who loves betting on goals, cards and corners, we have some stats for you. We fancy this game to have plenty of goals. Any game with the likes of Kane, Salah, Mane, Firmino and now Lucas Moura, should have goals. Spurs’ last five Premier League games have produced three or more goals. Liverpool ranked in the top four for over 2.5 goals in the Premier League last season, hitting that in 66% of their games.
Despite the fact these two sides have historically very clean disciplinary records, their head-to-head history tells us they love a card. Their last five meetings have seen a whopping 26 cards in total. Trent Alexander-Arnold tops the league charts with three yellows already this season. Kane is the main offender for Spurs this season with two yellows and Dele Alli picked up an impressive seven yellows last season.
These two attacking outfits normally produced a shed-load of corners. Liverpool average 10.5 corners per game this season and Spurs average 9. Their previous five meetings have seen 10, 8, 13, 12 and 10 corners.
A bet builder with over 2 goals, over 4 cards and over 8 corners comes in at an inviting 5.5/1.
This promises to be a great game with two attacking sides packed with world class talent. Spurs have the home advantage and are a great price if you fancy them to take on Liverpool. However, we are backing the form and potency of Liverpool to win this one. Our score prediction is 3-1 to Liverpool with Mane to get on the scoresheet at least once.
