Both 3pm kick-offs
BTTS: Stoke v Brentford to win – Championship
BTTS: Rochdale to win v Peterborough – League One
This Saturday, August 11: BTTS and Win Double has a risky away shout in the Championship and then a safer home pick in League One.
Stoke had a mare first game up, losing to 3-1 at Leeds. They still have a decent side but their defence remains questionable. They conceded 68 goals last season, which was the joint highest in the division. Brentford visit them today after a superb 5-1 thrashing of Rotherham on the opening day. So it is very encouraging that both sides have seen big BTTS results already this season. Stoke had the second highest BTTS record in the Premier League last season and are always a good candidate for scoring and conceding.
These two haven’t met in the league since 2002, which was down in League One. There’s not much history to go on but considering the early season form, we’re backing an away win for Brentford.
Rochdale and Peterborough both got off to good starts in the league seasons, both winning 2-1. They were operating at different ends of the table last season, with Rochdale just escaping relegation and Peterborough finishing 9th. However, we think this season might be different. Keith Hill’s men went through pre-season with a 100% win record, winning six from six, and made a number of good signings over the summer. Add to that, Rochdale won both meetings with Peterborough last season.
Peterborough were the BTTS kings of League One last season. They saw 65% of their games end with both sides scoring. Only three sides scored more than them but only two sides in the top half conceded more. They are entertaining to watch that is for sure. We reckon they’ll score goals but that Rochdale will take the spoils.
